    Hi all!
We're buying a house that has full length clear glass in the front door and side panels. Obviously no walking around in your jocks without frightening the post man!
I'm trying to think of ways to disguise this and was wondering if anyone could recommend a company that can come out and frost it maybe? Not sure if I'm good enough to chance a contact paper thing and don't want to mess up the front enterance.
I'd also like any other ideas people have to maintain privacy!

No idea where you're located, but your local glass supplier should be able to sort this out.

You can buy an aerosol can of glass frost spray in the likes of Homebase,BnQ and Woodies.

Its about 10-12 euro for a can of it,and it turns a clear pane of glass into a frosted pane,so that you cannot see through it.

    It works a treat,as I tried it myself recently,with a large window.:)

    I used this stuff

I've also had a signage company fit translucent vinyl to patio doors before. It was very expensive, over €300.

Sure you would buy a complete frosted window panel for a front door and get it fitted, for less than 300 euro.

The trick with translucent vinyl is to have someone to help you and to get the glass very soapy-wet before you start, and keep it soapy wet as you go along, using a spray bottle. This will stop the vinyl sticking prematurely, and give you a chance to squeegee out the bubbles. Read application instructions carefully!

The aerosol spray can of window frost I mentioned and used (very good job too) is called "Rustoleum".

Its available in BnQ and it costs about 11 euro.

Spray it on and 10 minutes later, and you have a frosted glass pane. You cannot see through it,but it lets in the natural daylight.

If you want to turn it back to a clear glass pane, then simply buy a can of frosted glass remover, spray that on,leave for 5 minutes and wipe it all back off.

    Simples.:)

Thanks a million everyone. All very helpful. Wish I wasn't quite so bad at anything DIY related tho. Gonna have a good think about it! Thanks again
