Real fire in fireplace with chimney lined for gas stove

When I renovated my house 8 years ago, we plumbed the main fireplace for gas but never connected it. There is a pipe coming up through the floor outside the fireplace. The idea that we would install a gas stove at some point. At the time, we got the chimney lined according to the gas regulations at that time (these have changed since then I believe).
Anyway is it possible to use this fireplace for a normal coal fire, or will I need to do something with the chimney lining again ?

Any help appreciated.

If a gas flue liner was used then you will have to do something with it. The liner will not take the heat from the coal fire.

Why was the chimney lined, what type of liner was used?.

if it was lined for gas it will probably need new liner, so get it checked as gas liner would burn out very quickly with solid fuel, needs to be checked by some one first,
