Hi anyone know when you would use the " apply these changes to all other cells with the same settings" in Data Validation. I was asked to use this feature recently on practice tests for MOS, but I have not been able to use it as it is always greyed out.
    Thanks

It is only if you are modifying an existing data validated cell.

So if you create data validation on cells A1 to A9 and you later go to change the validation on cell a1 it will light up and give you the option so it then puts the same validation into the other 8 cells.

    Hope this helps.

Fionny, in a sheet I log all invoices I get since 2010 by the actual date they arrive. I have account perion from 01/09/11 to 31/08/12, so I want to show all invoces grouped by month for this period, now this is almost no problem. The date filter I use is "between" 01/09/2011 and 31/08/2012 which again is fine however the months Jan Feb etc which are column names show as you would normall expect i.e. Jan Feb Mar Apr etc. Is there any way I can get it to show Sept Oct Nov Dec Jan Feb etc ?
    Cheers

Are you using a Pivot sheet to do the filtering etc..?

Yes, I just take all the info and filter using on the Pivot table to filter

So your data source has info from 01/01/2010 to present and you want it to show only 01/09/2011 to 31/08/2012 and have the columns named as September, October, November etc... but its currently showing Sept as Jan?

Sorry just want to be sure whats happening.

yes you are right about the data and the columns are labeled correctly i.e. Jan, Feb, Sep, Oct, Nov, Dec.. However the sep to Dec refers correctly, to 2011 and jan feb is correctly 2012, what I want is, in thos order columns, Sept, Oct, Nov, Dec (all 2011), Jan, Feb (2012) eventually on to Mar, Apr, May, Jun,Jul,Aug.
    Hope I have explained ok.

Fionny, I got it, I had the dates Grouped on the months only, when I grouped on months and years and then applied my filter "between" 01/09/2011 and 31/08/2012 it nows shows the columns as I want them i.e. Sep Oct Now Dec (2011) Jan Feb 2012. many thanks for taking an interest.
