    http://ie.wii.ign.com/articles/121/1219123p1.html

    2pm today, GMT.

We'll probably know what it's about at 11am as that's when a similar Japanese announcement is taking place.

Any theories, or is it a non-event to steal some Vita thunder?

Could it be, could the long awaited yard work simulator finally becoming a reality? :p

Joking aside, probably a big IP, or maybe the inevitable hardware revision with integrated dual sticks? Who knows

Or, could be more Wii U revelations, new name etc... So that it's out there and they can try to focus on what it can do at E3?

They are having a Japanese one 3 hours before that, so we should know by then.

There's going to be the Japanese conference at around 11, followed by a more localised round-up for NoA and NoE.

    Anything small?
Or did they use the Japanese announcement to announce the american and european announcements, then use them to confirm that there was a japanese announcement? How meta!

It's just a round-up of what's coming to 3DS and Wii(lol, one game in Japan) in the next few months.

    http://pxz.channel.or.jp
This is about the most interesting thing to come out of it.
Capcom, Sega and Namco-Bandai are working on a game for the 3DS together.

I hope that game is a cross company fighting game ala Jump Superstars.

Any other news? Any new IP's? on either platform?

I hear Smash bro's has started development this week. Never got into the smash bros games but lots of people love them! May give it another go on the 3DS. Roll on 2013/4/5 for its release! lol.

Game Gear games to be available the middle of March...
A friend of mine had one back in the day but I don't remember anything good on it.

The Game Gear Sonic games had some great level designs and worked really well.

Shinobi was pretty decent on it too AFAIK.

I enjoyed Batman Returns on it too, but it definitely wasn't the best game :D

Ooh now that IS nice. It'll be nice to see those games on a modern handheld screen. The original GameGear screen is TERRIBLE today.

Do we need more of those?

Gamegear was great back in the day, the major reason it didn't sell well was price and AA batteries, which ran out super fast.

That's a pretty big deal. I had a GameGear back in the day and I loved it. Mickey Mouse Castle of Illusions and Streets of Rage were my favorite, plus The Terminator - made by long since defunct Virgin Games

It was a huge thing with lots of batteries and virtually no life span...in terms of battery life, but it was colour at a time when portables were not

Man, I forgot The Terminator! That was actually pretty good too!
As far as I remember, I think the only other Virgin Games game that I had was Cool Spot. A game based around the red dot from the 7-up logo!

    Yeah, I remember Cool Spot:D

If I remember correctly Virgin Games had something to do with the first Resident Evil on PSOne, but I think their logo was removed in subsequent relaunch and re-releases...I'm almost positive though I remember seeing their logo on the original cover of the PS version

I wish they released some Neo Geo pocket colour games on it. It would be nice if they got the inevitable 3DS revision out of the way and announced it already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,123 ✭✭✭✭Star Lord

Don't see why they'd need any kind of revision to support Neo-Geo Pocket Colour games...?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 33,733 ✭✭✭✭Myrddin

I wish there was less emphasis on emulating systems of old, on a current gen handheld. Is it as easier buck these days to rerelease an old game & charge for it through some digital marketplace?

I know there's some great 3DS games out there by now...but not as much as I'd like to see.

Are you kidding me? It's only been a year (just about) since the 3DS was launched, the revision for the first Nintendo DS didn't happen for 2 years and in fairness the DS Lite really helped the original design flaws of the DS - in terms of the packaging and how it was made.

As for the other redesigns, the DSI and DSI XL, they were/are fundamentally of no use since there was no major graphics move forward - yes the addition of a camera, but it's not exactly a huge move.

I don't see why the Nintendo 3DS should be redesigned again and then re-released, especially since the circle pad pro answers a lot of gamer's personal frustrations in including a second analog stick. Add on's sure, not redesigns

I was referring to a hardware revision for the 3DS like the DS Lite.

That circle pro pad looks awful and reduces it's portability. Also the battery life could do with an extra hour or two. If there's a market for it, and the DS, PSP and GBA, proved there is, then they'll release it.

I'd rather just get the inevitable over and done with, while the trade in value on my older games is still reasonable.

If Nintendo release a 3DS with an extra analog, they would also have to fit the ZL and ZR buttons. There's not much space for two extra trigger buttons without bulking up the console.

Unless they release another accessory with just those buttons. I'm going with this. It's Nintendo's way.

From my personal point of view, I'll stick with what I have, unless they release something MAJORLY different or make the console more portable or...dare I say it...smaller and easier to get around. I suppose the 3DS can be a little heavy but I'm happy with the size and don't want anything smaller...otherwise it'd be just like using an IPhone

No, I like it exactly as it is

Yeah, this for me too. I only got my 3DS in January, and it's a nice looking machine (got the Ice White one). I've got no desire to go out and buy that Circle Pad Pro Monstrosity though, and even less to actually stick it on machine, particularly if I'm on the bus.

The current 3DS only has a 1200 mAH battery too, and even the PSP has an 1800 mAH battery. Nintendo were just cheaping out there, they probably only saved a few cents on each unit, but at the expense of an hours battery life. The new one needs a 1800 mAH battery.

I'm not a huge fan of the volume or 3D sliders either, a bit loose, unlike my DS lite, and of course theres the bottom screen scratching the top screen issue.

So theres quite a few issues then. I'm deliberately not using the e shop too, because afaik I lose everything when I buy a new 3DS. Or is there a way to transfer your account after already trading an old machine in?

No, you'll need access to both machines and a wi-fi connection. You need to download a transfer app from the eshop to transfer content from your DSi to 3DS. The guys in my local gamestop were kind enough to let me transfer the content from one to the other while trading in.

This is why even though I love Nintendo games, I hate Nintendo. How in the world are they still operating like this in 2012 and getting away with it?

I'll try to do the same as you when I'm trading up, surely the shop will be decent enough to let me?

I'm also not a fan of their current account system, any games bought from their downloadable shops should be attached to your account and if your console (wii or Dsi or 3ds) breaks or gets lost/stolen, you should be able to deactivate the console remotely from their club Nintendo website and transfer the games to the new console you have to fork out for. Anyway, back on topic - more downloadable game on their way... Yay! :) But sort out the account system, sooner rather than later, and I'll be willing to go shipping crazy if i'm sure that my purchases will be safe. Hopefully things will change with the imminent Nintendo network - bring it on!
