Got my mac last summer, a few days ago the charger broke (magnet bit is stuck in the laptop). Does anyone know if this would be covered under my warranty? And if so how I'd go about getting it replaced?

Yes, the charger is covered under the warranty. Apple have even been known to replace them outside of it. Either ring Apple or bring it into an authorised Apple service provider. Bring the MBP with you.
