Hi, does anyone have any advice on how to get my car unlocked? Car was towed away by my insurance but they appear to be leaving it up to me to sort out the unlocking in the morning. Is it enough to have the chassis number to get a keycode for a replacement/temporary key cut, or does the car have to physically go to a main BMW dealer? I'm presuming I only need to get a replacement key to get into the boot and then use my own encoded key to use the car.
Car is in Galway btw, so I'm not sure if there is even anywhere in Galway that can cut replacement keys for a BMW...

Probably cheaper to break the window, pull the boot release and claim for a new window.

A mobile locksmith will be able to help you.

which window did u break? can you reach the back seats and drop them? fish out the keys ?

It's a 520, rear seats don't fold. Tried everything in the car, releasing central locking, boot release button, 4 doors, all are centrally deadlocked.

    Hardly relevant

    Call a locksmith OP.

i would have to look up the schematics, but if its anything like the E46 electrically, which i'd imagine it is, you can just put 12V on to the boot unlock solenoid and pop the boot. I'm assuming you can get inside the car after breaking the window and can take up the back seat, the harness runs under that....

OP gather up the vehicle documents, get down to where you bought the car,

And ask for the lock barrel code/s.

Go to a key cutters, get a blank cut to suit.

Should open the door lock but wont release the deadlocks.

The coded key should do the rest.

    Hope that helps.

Cheers for the responses everyone. Just got in contact with a local mechanic here and he says it's just a matter of getting in touch with a BMW dealer and they can provide (with id validation etc.) a keycode which can be used to cut a blade key which can be used to open the boot. If thats the case then not too bad after all :-)

In response to the chap asking how I locked them in the boot it's actually very simple, the keyfob remotely opens the boot without unlocking the car, keys in coat, coat in boot, close boot, from here on is obvious!

I've just pulled up the WDS wiring diagram. PM me if you need the wire colour to put 12V onto to unlock the boot.

Thanks for that. Don't have the car to hand at the moment as it's in storage for the night but if stuck I'll get in contact in the morning.

Does it not have the door between the back seats and the boot ?

There is a pull cable under the rear seats that allows you to open the boot if the battery goes dead. It's on the right side of the car as indicated in the pic.

    Hi Viper123

I've locked my only car keys in the trunk . I tried spacing the door with air bags and then tried opening the door handle from inside with a wire twice ... it wouldn't open .. tried opening the car by pressing the central unlocking button with a long wire , it still would not open.

A spare key is £120(Key FOB / Electronic) but , I just ordered the metallic key£23 with which I can open the trunk.

    Is the trunk deadlocked ?
or the key will open that ?.

also , since the car is deadlocked ,can I open the door with the key , (worst case if the trunk does not open with key)
can the E60 520D (56 plate) be un deadlocked by some special procedure with the metallic key ?

Any help you can be for me pls.

My advice is buy a proper spare keyfob, why do people get themselves into these situations for the want of a spare, I know they aren't cheap for BMW but if you have a BMW you shouldn't be cheap either!

If You lock your key FOB of a BMW E60 5 series , 520d . No need to order a Full Electronic Key fob , just order

    Slide-in key (code) - Metal part number 51 21 7 069 547

4 times cheaper than a complete Key FOB

from your nearest BMW dealer and the key will be delivered to you within 24 hours .

The dealership needs to see the Vehicle ownership documents and Photo ID .

Different dealerships qoute different prices , so phone around .before you order

These keys are stored in BMW UK's storage in Northamptonshire. NO need to call a Lock smith . he wont be able to help.

Once the car is deadlocked the central locking button wont work , nor the inner door handle , which one might be able to get hold off , after creating a gap in the door , with air bags .

The Spare metal key , which you order will open the door/ trunk/ boot lid but trigger the alarm which can be turned off as soon as you get hold of the locked key :)

My E61 has a 'spare' key in the glove box. Does yours have one too ?

Mine Has a Hollow key FOB into which a Spare plastic key can fit and then the whole assembly fits into the place where this FOB is inserted to start the car.

This spare in the glove box is not for the Metal keys .

That's weird..I've the same car and I can't open the boot remotely unless I first unlock the car.
    God knows I've tried it many times...prob best I can't though :D
