I've had a problem with the emissions light coming on in my car and asked a family friend thats retired. He thinks it might be a problem with the engine leads and any excess petrol not being using is making the light come on.

Anyway, I took the 4 leads out of the car today, on them they say 5k ohms.

I measured them with a multi-meter and got:

    1. 5.93k ohms
    2. 5.94k ohms
    3. 6.34k ohms
    4. 6.13k ohms

These all sound ok to me, they are not varying too much from the 5k ohms. Does anyone know if the leads are supposed to be bang on 5k ohms or is it possible leads 3,4 need replacing?

    any help would be great.

If there was a problem with the leads, you'd have a misfire.

    What engine it it?

It would just be random guessing without having proper diagnostics done on the car.

Could be the egr valve either, but as ND says, get her plugged in and she'll tell you herself!

Will send her into a garage for a diagnostic, would of been nice to find the problem in one of the leads but they seem like normal enough readings. Thanks for the help
