On newstalk today Michael Martin proclaimed that the previous FF government was responsible for the groundwork in creating these jobs.

    Could this be true.

Personally I don't believe a word of it.

If he has the balls to take credit for that then he & his party should have the balls to take credit for the mess his party left this county in.

Louise Phelan from paypal just said on the 9 o clock news that in the last few months she looked at many European locations.

This means that FF had nothing to do with this decision.

I am surprised that they are still lying through their teeth.

    What's this "Creating" business?

PayPal created the jobs. Government policy and the IDA brought them here to Ireland, and kudos for that.

Government policy also destroyed hundreds of thousands of jobs, so Martin would want to be careful before asking us to keep score.

All in all a good day. Not one for point scoring.

Michael Martin can claim credit for the Chinese visit.

"You Irish, very good software" :p

I am delighted by the news, hopefully we are finally climbing out of the hole we're in. This and the Chinese visit makes this a good week for Ireland.

Companies always say they are going to employ more people than they actually do, i think its to get grants and stuff

They're expanding. They're opening a support centre less than an hour away from their European HQ.
    They need staff.

    It really is that simple.

Why are you surprised, it's what they do best? What surprises me is that anybody even listens anymore and while I'm not convinced the current crowd are going to be the saviours of anybody but themselves and their own cliques, it pisses me off to hear FF TDs waffling on about how much better they could do things. If that was the case, why are we fcuked? Just ignore them, it'll do wonders for your blood pressure.

Do you have any evidence to back that up or what is it based on?

We have a thread on this subject over in Irish Economy, I'm not really seeing the need for another one here

    Cheers
