I am having a CMOS issue. Each time I turn on PC I have to reset the date and the time. Thought it was due to the CMOS battery so I replaced this and getting the same error. No new hardware has been installed either?

Below is screen print.Any other possibilities and solutions

    Thanks

Enter the BIOS, change the settings according to the error messages (date/time)

Then check the Advanced settings for "BIOS settings cacheable" or similar and disable it.

Could try flashing a new BIOS if that doesnt sort it.

Is the new battery definately installed correctly? I would try taking it out and putting back in in case that is the issue

The BIOS settings may be corrupted (in the non-volatile ram).
Make a note of your bios settings ( might be a pen & paper job), then see if there's a "reset to factory settings" option.
Then reconfigure your system back, if you had made any changes before.

If that doesn't work, a more extreme version of clearing the BIOS might be required. I remember once I had to look up the motherboard guide and set a jumper to clear the bios settings.

Battery is in ok but keeps on asking me to reset the time. Could not find anywhere to "BIOS settings cacheable" or similar and disable it.

Below are pics of the settings how can I reset the factory settings as not sure if on this or how can I flash a new bios but read this is risky and may make PC a dead duck

    reset the jumpers

Yeah are you sure the Clear CMOS jumper isn't set to clear? Check the mobo manual for different states

    No

Basically, you'll have to set the jumper to shortcut the CMOS and then power it up. This will force a hard BIOS reset to the default settings. Power off and revert to the original jumper settings.

I had exactly the same case with a friend from RSA last year, for the life of me I can't remember the culprit in the BIOS. Can you post make and model of your MB?

If the jumper to Clr CMOS is set to clear it will wipe the settings on each boot up. So that could be why you are receiving that error

Does your BIOS have the option to save settings via F10 rather than just Save and Exit?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,785 ✭✭✭Irish Gunner

Have to check if it just has the save option via F10

Checked the Jumpers and cannot see were to set it to default?

    Anyone ?

Anyone help me with this getting annoying:mad:

Either have to set up time at Bios boot or let it load and change time to Internet connection.

Buggers up my AV updates me thinks if I don't reset the time

    Cheers

I *think* this is your mobo the manual I found. That above is how to clear CMOS. If by the off chance you have done this and moved it to clear position it may be causing your issue.
Don't boot up if you move the jumper unless 100% possitive it was in the wrong position. There is a possibility it could break the motherboard.
Appart from that I don't know, maybe faulty cr2032 battery was put in or failing motherboard?
