    Hi
    Would be grateful for any advice.

    I need to buy a second family car, preferrably an estate but not tied to idea, with a budget of circa €5,000. Obviously with this budget there is going to be years and miles up on the car. What makes/model would people recommend that i can expect to get a good lifespan out of after purchasing?

    Thanks in advance

    For that kind of money I would consider a 1.6 petrol Focus estate. Reliable, very practical and cheap to keep on the road.

    There is probably a million miles on it but;

    Honda Accord 2 litre petrol estate - but looks are a personality thing.

    Bulletproof reliability, I bought my 04 (albeit a 2.4) for €6K with 63,000 miles on it. FSH and spotless.
