My question is does the above title mean anything anymore in the WWE
They only seem to care about the WWE Title and WHC, The title holders never seem to feud with anyone for the title and they dont even seem bothered to be the title holders

I always laugh when Cody says he's brought credibility back to the IC title. What by never defending it and carrying around a fetching white version LOL

I think you answered your own question Campo.

The IC/US titles used to be used to help elevate people to main event. Now, with two main titles and two shows each needing main eventers, people are elevated to main event too quickly, bypassing the IC/US titles. By that stage, having them in feuds for those titles is just a step back (even though it shouldn't be if the IC/US titles were shown to mean something)

I wouldn't say WWE care only about the WWE or WHC; they care about them more, granted, but still not that much.

Case and point, ask yourself this....do you see either Punk/Jericho or Bryan/Sheamus being the last/top match at Mania? Do you even see it being ahead of Taker/HHH, the second main event? At most, the top title matches will act as filler between the top matches, but it's pretty obvious that the WWE title matches are not being treated as top tier feuds and stories at the moment. Hell, they didn't even main event the last pay per view either...

The titles are just gimmicks now, designed to give someone an easy promo. That's it.

This is very true such a shame though as I have been recently watching back some of the old WWF stuff when people like Macho Man was IC champion it just seemed to matter so much more but now the title have turned into what Russo always said they were props

I'd somewhat disagree with this to be honest. While it's true for Wrestlemania, it's not true of the majority of PPVs. Wrestlemania is all about the biggest matches you can possibly have, and while the titles certainly aren't treated as importantly as they once were, no title matches WWE can make right now would be bigger than Rock/Cena or Taker/HHH. Look what happened at WM18, Rock V Hogan was an incredible match, the biggest match on the card. And it was then followed up by HHH V Jericho, for which the crowd were near dead.

There's no way Sheamus V Bryan or even Punk V Jericho could match the other two matches. They might be better matches, but for the crowd, they just aren't as important. But for most PPVs, the title matches are billed as the most important.

Funny enough, I've just listened to this week's Review-a-Wai and they were bringing up that we're ten years on since Rock/Hogan and HHH/Jericho were set to main event Mania, and the arguement was made that despite Rock/Hogan being a bigger draw, HHH/Jericho was the title match so had to go on last. Ten years later, anyone trying to make that arguement would likely be laughed off the boards :P

I'm not going to argue WWE have a stronger title match they could have put together that could have outshone the top two matches. But on other PPVs, title matches tend to go last because they are the only feuds which have been built up in any discernable way. The belts themselves though are nearly non-consuequental. The top guys get the top spot not because they have the belt but because they are the ones the most time has gone into. Most feuds, if you took the belts away and just stopped using them, there'd be no changes whatsoever.

I feel like the I.C/US Championships are basically on the same level as the European and Hardcore Championships were back in the day. Just mid-card titles that make the holder look good, but not really relevant to the promotion which is sad considering the hisotry of both titles. I think that after the World Heavyweight Championship was introduced it devalued the I.C title as that was an important title to win but now with two world titles, WWE just don't feel the need to focus on them any more.

As for the tag titles. WWE just don't care about tag teams anymore. I think I remember reading somewhere that Vince or Shane don't think that there's a market for tag team wrestling and don't bother with it, even though the tag division was one of the best things when they were at their best. I've heard that WWE are planning on revamping the tag divsion but i've yet to see it so i'll believe when it happens.

Tag Division in general is poor whether it is WWE or TNA but that is probably for another thread

The revamping of the tag division story crops up every few months but never goes anywhere.

Actually, it's that time of the year again where they stick the titles on two random guys (looking to be Truth/Kofi this year) so they can defend them against another two random guys (my guess is Miz/Ziggler) so they can stick four guys on the undercard of Mania...

If they could I think WWE should do a series of NXT with tag teams
