Hi guys, I am thinking of registering for a revision course for June this year with Julie Hawkins in DBS and im wondering has anyone else gone to her before? I have heard she is very good. Also I ordered my study texts off BPP but now im wondering does Julie use a different text book and where i would get that!

Put it this way - my wife studied tax for her ACCA in DBS under Julie 4/5years ago and got first in Ireland. She is tough and expects hard work, but you wont get any better than her. Best of luck!

Julie uses her own text book and revision notes and she's a top lecturer for tax me thinks

Yeah i heard she is tough but its probably best especially if im studying from home. So when i sign up for her revision course i should get the study text and all the material sent out to me?

I dont know tbh. Your best bet is to phone up DBS or Julie Hawkins and find out

Thanks, i rang them this morning and they werent sure either but im waiting to hear back from both! I ordered the BPP books already so I just trying to find out if I need different so i can cancel that order! Thanks again!

I have her as a lecturer, fantastic revision notes and fantastic teaching. She pushes you hard alright but if you want to do well you will do well to find better.

Julie is one of the best ACCA lecturers you'll get. If you sign up for the revision course Julie will send out her text books. You'd be better off studying from those than using BPP material TBH because when you go to the revision course you might be a bit lost. If you have any questions, I'm sure DBS will pass on your queries to Julie and she'll be in touch.

Her class pass rate in June 2011 was over 90%, results speak for themselves. I passed F6 in Dec11, I wouldn't call her tough she's just straight talking do as she says and you will pass

Thanks, I got my books on Thursday in the post so have been studying since I got them, her way of explaining things is so much easier. Fingers crossed ill pass!

Hi all

I think Julie does a home study course. Is that independent of DBS or should one contact DBS for information? If it's independent of DBS, I'm wondering if anyone might have contact details for Julie?

Hi I dont have a contact number but i have an email which i will pm to you! I did the revision course only with her and she sent out the pack to me back in feb, was the same pack as the rest of class who were studying it full time. The revision course was run over six weekends so not sure whether you would have to be attending any of her classes but if you can always email her, she is usually quick to reply if she is working! hth

I am also studying on my own and I tried sending an email to DBS but it keeps on returning my mail.. is it possible to get julie hawkins email as well? I am from cork and wouldnt be able to attend her classes so I am hoping to buy a her book..
