Hi all, just wondering if anyone had a torque wrench for sale. I can get one in B&Q for around 40euro without any bits. Thanks

Just make sure its of a low enough setting, many sold for car maintenance do not. This is a good one, though a good bit more expensive, but will last if cared for (esp. remember to 'reset' it to its lowest setting after every use )

    EDIT:

Actually, this one from B&Q would probably be fine (note its a 1/4" drive, check your sockets will take this: an adapter is available if they are 3/8")

I think you will need one that starts at a lower torque than the Halfords one in the link - that starts at 8Nm and you might need as low as 5Nm for bars and stems.

BBB make one with a cycling suitable range.

You can get something like that http://www.ritcheylogic.com/dyn_prod.php?p=05-252-100 for the majority of the stem bolts/clamps.

    Have this one myself:

    http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=11142

At €35 it is the best value I could find. Works fine for me. 2 - 24 NM so it covers most of the torque settings needed on a bike.

As others have said most torque wrenches sold in hardware shops will have too high a torque value to be any use for bike components, look for something in the 4-20n range. I am pretty sure I saw one in Joe Daly's a couple of weeks ago when I was looking for something else, I think is was €29.00.
