New Golf Course Anouncement @ Bushmills (N.I.)

    In these times of course closure it is likely that a new Championship Course will be announced in Bushmills tomorrow (near Portrush). The course will also have a large Hotel - that will help as it can be hard at times to find decent accommodation (anyone going to the Irish Open will know that).

    The exciting thing is that this could lead to the Open coming back to Northern Ireland.

    It's been a long time since big tournaments were regularly held in N.I. - I remember watching Christy O'Connor, Jacklin, Oosterhuis etc.

    Golf in Northern Ireland has been a bit static in Northern Ireland and the developers tended not to plough money into new course like they did in ROI with the result that most of the courses are doing a bit better (though many are struggling).

    The new course will make the Portrush area a great(er) place to play golf.
