Is something like this legal in Ireland?

In a bit of a blackstop however 500m down the road the signal is pretty decent.

Have FWA broadband however can be flaky at time so was thinking of getting mobile BB as a back up but with the poor signal I would need one of the above to get a decent connection.

    Thanks

any alternatives or do I just suffer the vagaries of the communication infrastructure we currently have in Ireland?

Get your operator to install one, otherwise it's illegal.

Alternatives would be to get a proper ISP. Failing that, move the modem to an area of best signal reception, and pray for the best. A router that allows you to plug in your 3G modem may help. Check the router sticky thread at the top of the forum.
