    Hey all,
The Samsung Chat 222 dual sim phone (gsm arena info) is on sale in Carphone Warehouse stores for €29.99 and this includes €10 of an o2 topup.

It's advertised as 49.99 on the website.

I got one there today, will stick a 48 SIM in one slot and my o2 in the other.

It's only a GPRS phone but at least it would seem to have a good battery life. Not a bad ol phone for 19.99.

Sounds good. So is this phone unlocked to all networks or what?

    Orange pilled.

It comes with an O2 sim pack but yeah I have 2 non-o2 SIMs in mine.

It won't even recognise my 3 sim though. I think other people have noticed the same thing!

Ok thanks. Looks like it's not unlocked so.

Three use 3g sims, if it's not a 3g phone it won't recognise them

Oh, I didn't realise it could be locked to prevent a certain type of sim from working in it.

I just thought it's because Three is a funny old network and this phone doesn't even support EDGE let alone 3g.

For what its worth, I have a meteor sim and a foreign sim in my phone and I can switch between them easily.

What shop did you get it in?

Do you think it's that price in all the branches?

Seems to be. I got one aswell. Its better than most basic phones tbh. The screen is probably the weakest part.

It's €29.99 when you buy an o2 sim card which include €10 credit. So it's €39.99 altogether!

    That contradicts the Op's post?

    I just checked my receipt:
    Samsung E2222 Chat - QTY:1 - 19.99
    O2 Prepaid Sim - QTY:1 - 0.00
    Speakeasy voucher - QTY:1 - 10.00

    Total: 29.99

Fair enough! Usually those sim free CPW phones don't include the sim in the price. Good bargain in this case so :)

    Cheers OP.

The mother uses 2 phones for her free 086 and 087 calls.

I was wondeirng if there is a "simpler" dual sim , branded phone out there ?

Just calls and texts is all she would use

Can anyone clarify if this phone is locked into O2 ?

Two people have already said its working with other sims and its advertised as sim free. It doesn't seem to work with three sims though.

    Which was mentioned here aswell

I've been using this phone the last day or so. I notice when I type double characters fast I get special characters. Like if I type "Well" etc. The LL's come out as a upside down V. I have to pause between characters to do double characters.

Perhaps a text input option that can be changed.
Tried to get one of these but they were sold out then discontinued as not financially viable for CPW

I tried to get one as well but was told they would not be back for sale again.

I tried to buy one of these last week and was told they had been recalled.

    Oh god,
Samsung made a phone for chatting constantly with a keypad, but it has a fixed limit of 300 SMS messages (combined sent + received). Stupid.

I dunno why people keep all their old txts. Most of it is just chat.
