No had Fern put down last week, she had gone deaf and she was losing her mind. Thought it was the kindest thing to do. Fantastic dog though... saw more deer shot than most men will in their lifetime.

Will be using him mainly for tracking but also for indicating deer. Great pets too.

    Are they hard to train?

From my experience of the breed they are strong willed and can be difficult to keep manners on them. As for tracking it just comes naturally to them.

The first deer I ever shot I was put onto by Fern. An absolute legend of a dog, just like her previous owner - another legend.

He will be 2 in may. He is trained and has been finding deer, so as soon as he bonds with me he should be working well. He is related to the bavarians my friends have here and its a good line so hopefully he will be a cracker. His name is Jake!
