hey all i was out skirmishing one of my m4s yesterday and it was draining batterys alarmingly quick. i was using repitition on an 11.1 and it died after an hour fully charged. when that died i put in a 9.6 that lasted 5 mins and another 9.6 after that it lasted about 30 mins. i put in a G&P m120 yesterday before playing and my only guess is thats the problem. the gearbox is an SRC casing with 16:1 G&P gears. i thought it might be shims but checked that and they were all bang on. anyone got any ideas?
    cheers

What ROF is your gun firing at?
    What mAh is your LiPo?
Were your 9.6v batteries fully charged? What mAh are they?

The G&P M120 is, in general, a power-hungry motor - it takes a lot of juice to keep it turning over as quickly as it does, and as such it performs best with fully charged 9.6v batteries, or fully charged LiPo batteries. The higher the mAh, the longer it can supply the current the motor wants.

Start with the basics. Test with fully charged batteries, and ensure the mAh is enough e.g. an 800mAh 11.1v LiPo will drain pretty darn quickly, whereas a 2000mAh 11.1v LiPo will last considerably longer :)

thanks for reply man :) the 11.1 is a 1600 mah 20c intellect the 9.6s were a firefox 1400 and g&p 1600 both wer fully charged. its shootin pretty darn fast about 35 a sec :o the 11.1 lasts about an hour but just seems pretty short amount of time to me :( what battery would you recomend?

    Woah! That is pretty quick.

Yeah, an hour for the battery is quite short. Is that an hour's constant use, or does it run down just when plugged in? There could be a small snag on the wires somewhere causing the motor to draw more power to it, just to get enough to cycle.

I'd say there's a short somewhere, as it does seem a little excessive. Perhaps PM NakedDeX or Leftflip - they'd probably be a lot more help than I am :o

ok cheers man that was constant use on semi but would semi drain quicker than auto?

Yup - Semi takes more power as the motor has to spool up each time. Burst fire tends to take less power than semi. Semi also wears out the trigger contacts sooner...pain in the ass when you're a semi-auto fan :(

Like Inari said - the bigger the mAh's the longer it will last and semi suck's more than full auto...

As a broad rule of thumb - you tend to get a bb per mAh, so although the battery might be only lasting the hour - (eg. 1100mAh battery ~ 1100 bb's, but it's very broadly speaking)
try figure out the amount of firing you're doing. you might find there's no real issue or confirm that you have a problem.

Colder weather and where you store the battery, will have a big effect on performance.

Did you aligne motor??(that screw at the bottom of handgrip)
If its too tight you'll be have problem with battery draining
