I am trying to become a ROS Customer, as they say on the website.

I completed the first step & successfully applied for a ROS Access Number, but now I am having difficulties with the second step - applying for a Digital Certificate.

The webpage asks for my tax Type and registration no / ID no, with a long list of options as below:
    PAYE-Emp
    VAT
    Environmental Levy
    Income Tax
    Corporation Tax
    CGT
    DWT
    DIRT
    PSWT
    SSIA
    IUT
    LAET
    C&E
    CAT
    RCT
    Betting Duty
    Air Travel Tax
    Excise Licence
    EVR

I am self employed with a PPS no. for my tax affairs. Which of these should i put in ? Income tax ?

Never realised how confusing this might be.

You'd select "income tax" (provided you are registered for self-assessment).

    PAYE-Emp once you've employed someone

VAT once income over certain threshold

    Thanks.
I am self employed, so put in Income Tax & my PPS no( PAYE-emp & VAT not applicable yet).
The next page that comes up shows different taxes for which it says I am currently registered:
    Income tax
    Capital Gains Tax
    CAT
    Excise License
    Stamp Duty
    Pension Schemes Levy

It also has C&E, Transit, and EU Savings Dir but N/A against these.

Should I submit based on this, or be wary of agreeing all the different types ?

    Capital gains tax is standard.

Some of the others such as CAT, Stamp duty, excise could be there because you've paid them at some time in the past.

I don't know why pensions levy comes up. (It used to show environmental levy here as well.)

I think you're safe enough to proceed. But if you really want to make sure give the ROS helpline a call - they're usually very helpful.

Thanks. I don't know why most of them showed up. Never paid CAT or stamp duty but I do have a private pension, that I claimed tax relief on the contributions.
