    Hi All,

I thought Boardsies would be the best to help me out here.

I have an iPad1 and and iPhone 4s.

My iPad was linked to my laptop but during the summer I plugged it into my aunts Mac and upgraded it to iOS 5 and it wiped it. When I went to plug it back into my laptop I had to update iTunes and long story short it would not work. So I have an iPad with no music/photos. I was able to download all the apps I had previously purchased.

Then I bought an iPhone4s and, knowing that iTunes didn't work on my laptop, I synced it with my mam's laptop because I had most of my music on there too. I have downloaded more music onto her laptop and synced them onto my phone.

Now somehow I got iTunes working again on my laptop. I plugged my iPad back in and that was fine syncing music back onto it but I don't know what to do about my iPhone. I am not too worried about losing the music on the phone to the music on my computer but I am worried about all the photos and music. I have all the photos on iCloud but not the videos. I have looked up instructions and I was advised to select 'Manually update Music' but when I tick that box and hit apply it gives me the screen where the options are 'Erase and Sync' or 'Cancel'. Does anyone know what I should do? Ideally I just want to be able to transfer music from my laptop to my phone because I am not living at home any more to use my mam's laptop.

And now I have the iPhone I am considering Jailbreaking the iPad but I don't really know what that entails. Loads of people advised me to do it when I first got it but I was afraid of it crashing etc. I know there are plenty of sites explaining HOW to do it but I want to know SHOULD I do it?

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated!

You cannot transfer music from one itunes library to the other. get all your music together on your laptop add it to itunes and erase and sync the music. you cannot transfer music but you can tranfer apps. your photos or videos will not be affected unless you restore the iphone.

jailbreaking is virtually harmless, apple claim it voids the warranty on the idevice but a jailbroken idevice is easily rectified by a simple restore in itunes:pac: basically it installs cydia for lots of customisation and apps that apple don't authorise.
