ACCA - P's vs. F's

I just passed F6 and F7, so I now have F1 - F7 complete. I'm trying decide which 2 to do next. I’m thinking about doing F8 and F9 in the June 2012 exams as that will be one numerical and one theoretical exam. But I could do a P, (maybe P2) however I know very little about the P’s - could anyone tell me – are the P level exams far harder than the F level?

    Thanks.

The required Ps are a step up from the Fs in terms of difficulty (but not as great an increment as that between F2 and F7 for example). The step up to the optional papers is greater IMO than that from the Fs to P1-3.

Cheers SBWife, that was what I was looking for. Its a toss up between F8 & F9 or F9 & P2 in June.

There are "progression rules" you need to consider also, you must have completed or be completing the F level papers before you can sit a P level. Therefore in order to sit P2 you need to have sat or be sitting all remaining F levels in June. There's a bit of a loophole in that you can register for both F papers and then no show up for one, but you'd be paying for a paper and not sitting it. A no show does not count as a fail but you'd have to pay to sit the paper twice.

Thanks a million for that post SBWife! I didn’t realise that such a restriction existed, I would have signed up to do F9 & P2 as someone told me it was a good idea to do P2 after F7. Decision made – F8 & F9 it is… you saved me from a potentially awkward cock up, cheers again!
