    Hello All,

I just wanted to bring this to peoples attention should you be in with your local RFD or out shooting or walking the fields. My Carl Walther target rifle was stolen from the gun dealer who was storing the rifle. It was stolen on a Tuesday, 31st of January. The RFD is located in north county Dublin.

The rifle was taken alongside a shotgun.

The rifle was in a ply wood case approximately 1.5/2m x .5m x .2m. The rifle was also wrapped in a pink towel/blanket (courtesy of the previous owner). There was a tasco 3x 9 x40 illuminated scope on it. There were 500 rounds in the box as well. In terms of unique or strange marks on the rifle, it has no magazine and just under the front of the scope there is a tear drop mark worn into the bluing.

Here is the most up to date and recent picture,

It’s not great, but that’s it.

Here’s another photo, this rifle isn’t mine but it’s the same type of rifle just without the scope.

I also just wanted to say, I’m only putting this thread up as a notice should someone come across it. I don’t want it to spark debate over anything related to the garda or the RFD. I’m not going into any finer details because it’s still being sorted out/processed.

    Thanks for looking
    Paul

Sorry to hear that man i hope you get it back.

I know you said you dont want to go into details but it might be helpful to others knowing how it came to be stolen like the thread a while back about 3 guns that were stolen from another members home. Anything that keeps us thinking about security can only be good

That's a rare rifle to find at the best of times. I've only seen two in my life used with a scope and yours is one of them.

It is a mid-1970's style Walther UIT .22RF match rifle. It measures 44.75" long and weighs 10.5 pounds with its usual diopter match sights. It will have the following markings on it -

Stamped on the left-hand side of the barrel - .22 LfB / 5.45m/m - a half antler [symbol of the Ulm Proofhouse] with a double digit number ie 76 [for the year 1976] and a serial number. On the breech ring - the Model type - On the left-hand side of the action - the serial number repeated, and adjacent to the bolt-ways the words [probably, I'll have to check tomorrow night on the club gun] Carl Walther Waffenfabrik Ulm a/Donau.

I'll take a wadge of pics for you of ours and get them to you somehow - especially all the markings.

I hope that you get it back.
