Two new small owls from Rancho La Brea

20-02-2012 2:48am#1One of them is a new genus, Asphaltoglaux (meaning "asphalt owl") and the other is a species within Glaucidium, of which there are still living species.

Glaucidium brasilianum and its eyespots (again!) to keep small birds from attacking it from behind.
