Not sure you can avoid the VAT unless the value of the item is under something like E50.

Who ever wants to pay VAT?

Not a courier like UPS, DHL, Fedex etc. They have their own custom processing facilities so your package is guaranteed to be processed and incur Customs and VAT if they are due.

Use the USPS (United States Postal Sevice) who interface with AN Post over here. Like all semi states either filled with dossers or conversely understaffed and overworked. Either way, not all packages get processed for customs and VAT. Its 50/50 whether you get hit for duty/VAT. I've saved thousands in the last few years without any shenanigans like asking for stuff to be marked as a gift or asking for the invoice value to be marked down. Everything above board and yet over half my packages have arrived without incurring Duty and VAT. This isn't just an Irish thing. Its the same in the UK and the same advice applies over there because USPS interface with the Royal Mail.

So USPS is yer only man

I'm sure one of our fine politicians will be over there for Paddy's day, why not drop them an email and ask them to bring it back for you
