Seems like an old parking area, maybe the fire brigade had a dummy plane there, that's my guess

Interesting contraption around the Concorde, possibly for high powered engine runs.

The only fire I have ever heard of at LHR with regards to an aircraft was Speedbird 712(BOAC)back in 1968.

I dont know what those marks are although it does look like the aftermath of a fire

Mr Panic you are correct in your thoughts as these were discussed on airliners.net not so long ago;)

I would reckon otherwise. Fire would not have such a nw/se linearity. The marks look more like scrape marks imo, possibly from the 777 2008 crash remains, though that would probably be lifted into final position and probably to an indoor location for investigation.

Yes there are scrape marks but also the outline of an aircraft.

The 777 was taken straight into a Hanger and disposed off from there and was never outside.
How old is this picture ?
Concorde is in the engine test bay so it maybe a few years old which may make a Trident viable but Im not sure when the last one left LHR

Sorry Mr Punto but you are slightly wrong. The 777 was moved ( a short distance) on to the ramp and surrounded by hoarding and the tail removed.

googles back in time feature allows me to see that this area is constantly used as a wash area.
I reckon it's the result of wash fluid, constant wet and a lot of shade.
see attached screen shot from 2006

I stand corrected ,but it wasnt from the 777 as those pics show plus the fact that its dated as above Ill rule out a Trident.

Yep it was present (if you knew where to look) for at least 3 months after the incident. Picture here taken in late April.
