Yep, 44 years alive and getting back into cycling...

Started many years ago on road bikes, then into BMX, onto MTB's then moto-x then back to MTB's then nothing... and now wanting to go back to road cycling/track cycling. Wow how things have changed! The last road bike I had was a Wudrup with Campagnolo & Cinelli parts, glue on tubs... these new ones make my old one look like a crock, wish I still had it though...

I live near mallow in Co Cork & have discovered the Kanturk velo drome, I will have to find out more and see if I can get a spin on it...

But my question, which is a long time coming I know, is the age old one, what am i going to buy...? I am going to use the back to work scheme and add some more money to it if required, but would prefer not to... I would also like to join up with other likeminded people, in a club or otherwise...

    So all any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

Like you i have been in and out of the sport over the years i went back to the racing last year and was at a loss of what to buy but things havent changed at all really, what you will buy will depend on personal choice and how much you have to spend, you still have to make sure you get a bike that fits you and the best way to improve is to put in the hours
At 44 your only comeing into your prime lad

Just coming into my prime...ah yes a great thought!!!

From looking on the web, there only seems to be 2 decent cycling shops in Cork, Victoria Cross Cycles & Kilgrews...

I have looked on their websites, and compared a few sub €1000 bikes & have come up with these:

    Giant Defy 3
    Genesis Aether 10
    Kellys Arc 1.9

Of those I think the Kelly's looks the best overall components wise & finish...

Any opinions on these, and any others that I should be looking at? Any help would be much appreciated...

there's a bike shop in Mallow and Fermoy, worth a look if you're from the area?
Dillons Cross bike shop has a few as well
Theres a club in Watergrasshill could be worth a shout.
