    Hey,

I'm new to gambling.. I'd like to do a small bit of gambling.

    What websites would you recommend?

Also, is there any websites that I could play "spades" on?

    Any advice for a newbie?

    Thanks! : )

My advice is, stay away from it!

Not trying to be smart or anything, but I think it's more hassle than it's worth!
After all, you never see a poor bookies! :P

Only advice is set a budget you can afford and stick to it. And online betting is addictive and because you dont have the money in your hand you spend it much easier than you would in a shop.

Never ever spend money that you can't afford to lose.

But on the other hand its a lot easier to keep a track of when you lodge and withdraw money.

My advice would be to keep a log of all your gambling, that way you can see where you are up or down. Then its just a matter of cutting out your leaks and concentrating on gambling that you have on edge on.

Betting Bank - Give yourself a budget. This must be money you are willing to lose.

Level Stakes Betting - Its often easy when starting out, to know what you want to bet on but have no idea how much to put on it. There's a simple solution. Bet the same amount each time. Ideally each single bet should be no more than 2% of your betting bank. For example if your betting bank is €100 then each bet should be €2. Yes this makes for slow progress but it will provide some protection.

Record Keeping - This is essential. You need to keep track of exactly how you are doing at any time. Ideally you should be able to track how you do in various different sports etc. This will help you identify areas that you good / bad at & can specialise in / avoid accordingly.

Stick to What You Know - It's probably best when starting out to stick to sports that you are fimilar with. If you follow GAA then start betting that.

    Things I have learnt

Guaranteed to win - There is no such thing as a sure thing. Upsets happen.

Don't chase Losses - If you lose money then never increase you stake in order to recover your losses. This is a guaranteed path to ruin, there are sometimes incredibly long losing streaks. If you are using level stakes this won't be a problem.
