Quick Time: permanently deleting video files?

Hi lads, first time poster in the Mac section. I have a macbook pro (version 10.6.8) over 2 years and I use quick time a lot for making videos and voice recordings for college. I'm wondering do any of you know how to permanently delete quick time files?

After I finish with a quick time video recording I trash it and also clear recent from the quick time menu BUT if I go to open file in quick time all my previous recordings are still there even though I have trashed. I cannot move these files to trash or drag them to trash. I am only given options to open these files.

I use the newer imac desktops (running Lion) in college and have no problem permanently deleting these files or dragging them to trash.

    Any ideas??

    Cheers in advance:)

Go to the where the files are located using the Finder and drag them to the trash from there. Then empty the trash. Clearing the recent menu won't do anything.
