    Hey,

I'm just after moving to Dublin and have decided I want to try my hand at rugby. I'm 23 years old, 14.5 stone and in fit enough condition. I've never played rugby before but am pretty familiar with the rules, being a Munster man and all!

Is there any club you guys would recommend which would be a good place to get used to playing and get a bit of match time. I'm living pretty centrally, on pearse street, so i guess i'll have to travel a bit to find a club.

    Any and all feedback appreciated!

Any club will have teams that are welcoming to a beginer to get started

Old Wesley or Bective Rangers in Donnybrook is pretty close and there is a pretty good bus service that comes near you.

Ciaran is right any club will be happy to have you. Being in Pearse street you have you choice of clubs in the Sandymount/Ballsbridge area. Wanderers, Monkstown, and Railway Union are all within mins of Sandymount DART station.

For sheer logistics, Lansdowne and Old Belvedere are the handiest. Belvo have a decent enough set up. Several junior teams that would be happy to accommodate you and show you the ropes. Bit of a stroll, but you could walk to Belvo from Pearse Street.

I think some of the junior rugby for Bective and Old Wesley takes place out in Kilternan so best to give them a call before wandering out.

Wanderers is also in Donnybrook ... isn't it ?

Best of luck ... I wish I was back in those playing days again

Good stuff! I didn't start playing til I was 20 and glad I started!

I joined Blackrock when I lived in Dublin, but I'm sure any of the teams would be welcoming!

    Best of luck with it!

Ah, those were the days

Back then I had all my own teeth too :D

Go for it & never hold back, best way to avoid injury, same as hurling ;)

Hope you get even half as much enjoyment out of it as I did & I started a lot later than you!

Best of luck to you :)
