Boot won't open

Looking for some help please.

I have an 05 renault megane and the boot will not open.

Any suggestions what I can do?

How are you trying to open it? I.e. central locking / boot control on fob, key or lever / button inside car?

You can access the boot initially by dropping the back seats. Check your manual there may be a way to manually release the boot lock from inside the boot. Mine its open a panel and pull a wire or something similar (a6).

Tried both.

Will try to get into the boot to-morrow to see if I can release it that way.

Common issue with those meganes

To open it initially you will need a torch & small flathead screwdriver or similar.
Go into the boot via the back seats, shine the torch at the boot lock, you will see a small white plastic thing, insert screwdriver and push sideways, boot will then pop open.

If you reclose the boot you will be back to square one, your problem more than likely is a broken wire in the harness in the boot. When you have the boot open you will see the harness in question on the left hand side viewing from the rear of the car.

If you open up the wiring harness you should come across the problem, I suggest you disconnect the harness from the body of the car also, relieving the stress on the wiring

Hi Guys
Sorry for opening this thread again.I was collecting someone two weeks and when they threw their bag into the boot the handle of the bag got caught where the boot closes down(If ye get where i am coming from).The car is a 00 corolla and the lever beneath the drivers seat wont open the booth.
Is this going to cost me an arm and a leg?
