    Hi,

I'm looking for a road bike, preferably size 52, also down to size 50 should be fine. The make/model/groupset is not important, as long as everything works ok.

My budget is about 350eur, might stretch it to 400/450 with some goodies or if something nice comes up for that price. :D

    Thanks.

I have 52cm carbon stay frame and carbon fork. €200 Basically as-new too small for me. Good starting point for build.

I have a Specialized Allez 52cm bought new in 2006. It has 1400 km on it. It is a triple 52/39/30 with I think a 12/25 cassette. The left brake lever hood is bent inwards slightly (possibly just twisted around the handlebars) and the bar tape on that side was ripped. I wrapped some duct tape around the tape to hold it. That accident happened in May 2006 and I haven't bothered to do anything about tidying it up. The accident: A car blocked me, I tried to mount a footpath, went over the handlebars, and the bike landed beside me. No impact with the car.

I have five bikes (incl the Allez). I'm retired and only use my bikes for fitness/leisure. I'm in south Dublin

You can have it for €250.

Thanks for the offer El.duderino. It sure sounds tempting. The thing is the budget mentioned can't be stretched above the 450eur mark. With 200 gone on the frame and forks, it leaves me with 250eur for wheels, groupset and finishing kit.

Cheapish wheels would be around 100eur or so, the cheapest groupset I could find was Tiagra for about 300£ (360ish eur?) plus saddle, seatpost, seat clamp, bars, stem, bar tape, cables with housings and I'm well in to new bike territory :)

The bike would be mainly for commuting, the odd spin to the shops and maybe a fitness spin on a Sunday morning.

Hi kincsem, do the gears shift ok and are the brakes in order?

Given that's the case I'd like to have a look at it. I'm also based in south Dublin.

It works. You might want to fit new cables, but I've used it in December without a problem.
    I've sent you a PM.

I travelled with the bike to Nutgrove to meet the OP. No show from the OP.

kincsem, I'm sorry I managed to miss you. I was from 18:15 till 18:40 at the entrance and didn't see anyone approach me or anyone with a road bike at all.

There was a guy with a hybrid between the two entrances. Would that have been you?

I agreed to meet you at the entrance to Tesco.

You say "entrance". That could be the entrance from the street to the shopping centre grounds, or the entrance into the shopping centre building, or the entrance into Tesco. I said "entrance to Tesco" to narrow down the numerous possibilities.

I left the bike in the car. I was not going to produce it until I saw that I was meeting one person. I would not produce the bike to a group of people, and I would not let one person cycle the bike without security (cash or equivalent.)

No sale. I'm not going through that again.

OK, my bad here. Was waiting at the main entrance to the shopping center (the one that's used to get to Tesco's).
    Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

I guess there is no point in keeping this thread open. Will just have to bite the bullet and get a brand new bike.

    Thanks anyway.

    Hi Kingcem,

I'm interested in your bike. All working ok apart from some torn tape and twisted shifter?

What size stem is on it? Think it could be made fit someone 5"2'?

It is too big for 5'2". Actually the top tube is 53.7 cm. It is the seat tube that is 52 cm. There is a small sticker on the bike that I misread. The stem looks like 110 mm (using a ruler.) I am 5'8" and it fits me.

I'm not bothered about selling it. I have five bikes and was selling it to make space. It is a good bike with only 1443.2 km on it. When I brought it into Bee Cycles yesterday afternoon Holyboy looked at it, twisted the brake hood around the handlebar back into position. It wasn't damaged. He wrapped some black tape around the scuffed/torn bar tape. He replaced the cables, did some lubing, checked the spokes. My last trip on it was 75km Stillorgan, Ashford, Stillorgan and it ran well.
