Went for rabbit yesterday , with no look but a fox came out and shot it with bb's , so brought the fox and its in the shed and i want to keep the tail , so whats the easiest way to preserve the tail , or is it too late ? in which case its a trip to the lake to feed some pike

cut the tail off and let it dry out ive never seen one rot yet in a dry garage , and for the rest of the fox put him at the edge of a feild and shoot the graycrows and mags that feed off him . dont dump him it a lake to contaminate and for some fisherman to find and have another ecuse to hate shooters.

take the tail off the bone by cutting carefully round the tail at the base just the skin not the flesh then get two sticks 8" long and grip the tail not the skin between them hold tightly with your hand and pull away from the base to the tip it should peel easily off the bone and pour some white spirit down job done it'll smell for a while but it will clear

don't throw it in a water course , especially not a lake pike aren't alligators lol
