Is this possible? If I can't get an old packard bell laptop wifi enabled then I could just plug it into a modem.

Trouble is one modem is in de kitchen for de pc and this laptop is for the playroom which has a working phone line.

Wil this set up work - one phone line 2 routers? Or wil eircom charge extra?

No, you can only have one DSL modem at a time per phone line.
