I was given an old Bowens Monolite 400 but having problems getting it to work. It is circa 1974 so has been a while since last fired.

I tried to trigger it with wireless triggers but nothing happening. Seems to power up okay initially, could be the flash is gone maybe.

I was told it may be something to do with capacitors not being used for a while and needing to be reformed, not sure what this means or entails, anyone any ideas or experience of this at all?

Does it have a flash tube? I remember our one in college broke years ago and the lecturer was on about the element and the flash tube having smashed.
It powered up okay and all the dials could be changed, but it'd never flash!

    Seems they do!
Might be worth while investigating. New tubes cost about €75, ex vat:
