Hi Guys...hope this is in the right forum!!

Have the above phone since May 2011...brill phone & delighted with it.:)

However, over the last few months it is driving me nutz when using the internet either over data or WiFi.:(

Essentially, it takes AGES to load pages, then when they are up, AGES to become responsive to touch, e.g. scrolling, selecting a highlighted section, etc.

It is NOT the screen & it's not the data speed as when I use the phone to tether my Touchpad it works perfectly & the same thing happens over WiFi too!

Something is slowing the processor down methinks but since I am only VERY mildly techie, I haven't got a clue!!!:o

Sales Assistant in Three reckons it's a fault with the phone too.

May be app related but I have NO idea what apps could be responsible & no way to check!

The phone is not rooted & has had no tweaks done to it...still as it arrived from Three!

Really don't want to do a reset but if that's the only option, is there a way to back up my settings & apps & restore them?

Thanks so much for any help on this as I am driven demented with it!!

If you have any ideas, please post in VERY simple terms...I'm techie illiterate for the most part!!:o

i know the OP said he doesn't wanna do a reset but it really is the best possible way to clear all the crap out, and also the quickest.

Thanks guys but it's really a last resort!!:o

Is there a way to back up my settings & apps & restore them if I do a factory reset?

I don't think you can back up your settings, surely it'll take a few minutes to put them back to how you have them.

As for Apps, can't you just transfer them onto your sd card? A factory reset will not affect your SD card, just your handset

I'm using a DHD and am totally happy with it.

Just before you do anything, have you cleared the caches??

I use an app call 1-Tap Clean Cache...presumably that works??

Doesn't help with the issue sadly. :(

Try installing Watchdog Lite, it monitors processor usage by applications, and will alert you if something has gone rogue. I use it and find it great.

There is an app called titanium backup pro on the android market which will backup all your apps and settings but its about €5. There is also mybackup by rerware which essentially does the same for free. As the lads have said factory reset is the way to go.

BTW the DHD really is a great phone and HTC recently confirmed they will be getting the Ice Cream Sandwich update in the next few months which will be make sure they are good for another few years.

Titanium Backup are only for use on rooted phones, am sure the OP hasn't got his phone rooted as per his statement of being techie illiterate. Also there is a free version which works just as well.:D

my mistake :o, pretty sure my backup works on unrooted phones though, my gf has a desire hd and i used it for her phone prior to the latest update from htc. The only problem is once you restore the apps after a wipe they don't appear under my apps in the market as the phone thinks they have been installed from elsewhere, so you dont get notifications that updates are available for each app

I'd definitely try Watchdog before you decide to go for a wipe tbh, should be able to tell you if it is apps going rogue and using too much processor power. There's definitely something not quite right going on there.
