Just thought i would air my views on the people who keep posting leaflets through my door calling for a ban on fox hunting.

The thing that makes me so angry is the facts in the leaflet are so incorrect and paint us in a bad light.

the leaflet itself asks the home owner to support them ( no name or club etc on the leaflet !!!) in stopping the hunting and killing of these "beautyful" animals.

it goes on to say "these hunters and POACHERS! are killing these foxes for no reason other then these beautyful creatures eating the odd chicken for its dinner, fox's have feelings to! They also kill them for fun, revenge (for eating a little chicken for its dinner), sport and for MONEY!!!!"

now corrct me if im wrong but i shoot fox's as they are VERMIN and cause damage to property, attack and kill more than a odd one of my chickens ( i lost 48 last year alone and repair bills in the 100's of euro's for damaged fencing etc due to fox's) etc etc. but the point is they are vermin. this leaflet did not state any problem with shooters "killing" other vermin such as grey crows, magpies etc....

they state that these "beautiful creatures" have feeling to but in that case do my chickens not also have feelings?

i assume these people live in the city or in the country and do not own any poultry therefore have no problem with fox's etc

just wish these people would put there energy into something else as im sure there are much bigger and badder things to be getting hyped up about.

    end of rant sorry

sorry just thought i would clear up they are having ago at shooters as it showed 2 pictures, one of a live healthy fox and one of a fox after having being shot.... thanks

Ye know its great that we all are allowed our opinions but its unfortunate that sometimes we can't handle having that right so we jump on the nearest bandwagon without a clue and annoy genuine people with a more realistic point of view on the way nature works. James the rant is warranted as you didn't subscribe to an ill-informed newsletter and i wouldn't bother thinkin twice about their opinions or lack of education!! Keep up the good vermin control.

You should have followed and asked the leafleteer if they would mind taking home a couple of beautyful  little wild animals you caught in your back garden ,namely a couple of sewer rats , and seen if they had the strength of their convictions.

If theres an address on the leaflet as to how to get in touch pop it back into and envelope and post it back to them but dont put a stamp on it
Theyll get caught for the postage!
Not much i know but like tesco says' Every little helps'

There the same ones that tie themselves to trees and jump on the band wagon over the shell to sea thing, if they only put half as much energy into getting a job!

    No point in being upset.

    God, grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.

So, can the minds of people who write/print & post leaflets like this be changed? My opinion is no, put them out of your head.

What you can do is this, explain to everyone else (that being the silent majority) what it is you do and why it is necessary. The trick is not being pushy about it, plant the seed and let it grow.

They are indeed a beautiful and intelligent animal. Wild nature at it's best, an opportunistic predator capable of testing humans.
They also need to be controlled.

I'm kind of sick of these self righteous campaigners, so many (along with a lot of charities) are a pitiful sick parody of the stated intentions.

Better still I once got pesterd by a load of God botheres letters.I've nothing against religion, but so long as you dont try and force your belif down my or anyone elses neck, whatever gets you thru the night is fne by me.
However I do get a tad peed off when after two attempts to tell these folks nicely,I am not intrested, they persisted.

Sooo,The Grizz's method of dealing with such.
Take the pre paid letter with their name and address on it,and tape it to a red brick, with the return addy clearly visible of course!! Or any other such item you want to dispose of around the house, and seeing it wont fit in you mail box.Drop it off at the post office.
An Post is obliged to deliver any parcel up to 50Kg in weight, and seeing that this is a free prepaid envelope, the let us PREY crowd are now stuck with the cost of having the brick envelope deliverd to them.So now they are down money already for the effort.
It took them a red brick to cop on to my message.
Next would have been a concrete breeze block. Then maybe an old cooker that is lying around here..Its a grand way of getting rid of aul rubbish around your house for free.
Needless to say I havent been botherd since..Ever again by the preying pestillence of any denomination looking for donations.:D
So should an anti group come around looking for money by post in the future, you know what to do.

    OR for more fun &games..
Simply return to them some pro hunting litature or pro gun ownership organisations looking for donations in their prepaid anti envelopes!!.An old American pro gun and hunting trick, and it has been quite effective in ending those kind of solicitions ,not to mind providing a laugh a minute and fun and games for all concerned.:D:D

lol i like the idea's but there was no name or organisation on the leaflet or address or phone number. i returned home around 4.30 and what did i find? another leaflet!!! went round to the old lad and saw 3 people i didnt know walking up to his front door with leaflets in their hands. so i jumped out of the jeep with the pump action (slide open unloaded) over my shoulder via sling and with 4 magpies, 3 grey crows and 2 fox tails in my hands walking towards the shed, they looked over too me with mouths wide open and i just said good evening oh and thanks for the leaflets they make great fire lighters. lol they shouted some abuse at me that i was a murderer and do i not realise these animals have feelings etc. when asked where they ahere from they replied they were from galway city. i asked for their names and they would not give them so i asked them to kindly leave my property as they where not welcome and i would be letting the dogs out soon and they do not resopnd well to strangers. they left shouting more abuse at me and i just laught which made them even more angry and again more abuse lol

i feel better now anyway and hopefully wont get anymore leaflets hehe

That is deadly! I can imagine their faces haha! Just keep an eye out because you could wake up and find your tires flat, these numptys are known to do that kind of thing.

Any chance of a pic of the flyer they were dropping in?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 78 ✭✭james4510

If I can find a flyer I will take a pic but I think I burnt them all lol I'm not worried about my tyres there is the small obstacle of two 7 stone rottweilers with free reign of the yard between the front gate and my vehicles lol but I know what your saying that's the kind of pathetic things they do.
