A golfing buddy has offered me a good deal on a bushnell pin master 1500 rangefinder. I would be interested in using this for calculating distances of rabbits between 125 and 250 yards. Any ideas of it would be suitable? Would they work at night under a lamp?

This rangefinder i suited for golf but because you need first target priority in hunting it could be OK.

The laser is really good and accurate but the optics in mediocre and at dawn or dusk it is almost unusable. How it would work with a lamp I am not able to say.

    I've a Bushnell rangefinder & it's ideal for rabbits.

If he's a buddy why not borrow it off him for an evening or two to try out before buying.

The one I have is the Bushnell Yardage Pro Sport 450.

It's designed for shooting so I don't know if the golf one is similar or not.

I have used it at night for rabbit shooting.

There's no problem using it at night.........if you can see the target through it it will range.....day or night

I have used both of these range finders. I think that either one would be a good choice for hunting. I once spoke with an bushnell executive that believed that the pinseeker was better suited for shooting due to the fact that that if you are shooting long range for greater accuracy you would rely on you own data rather than the BDC in the range finder. The pin seeker still gives you the exact distance from you to the target along with the the corrected distance based on the angle relationship between you and the target that you would use for shot calculations. Our sniper section actually carried the pinseekers in Afghanistan as a light weight alternative to the heavy cumbersome rangefinders issued by the military. They worked great for our section ranging person sized targets out to around 600 meters. I have been able to range reflective targets out to around 1400 meters. You won't be disappointed with either one.
