Working in Retail is Hell

So I haven't been able to find a thread that would deal with this. I work in retail. Today I was threatened by a customer that if he didn't get a full month out of his 5gb for internet that hed be back to shove it down my throat.

Anyone else think people just treat you like dirt when you work in retail?

"Sir, you make that threat again and I'll have you arrested and charged with assault. How does having a criminal record sound to you sir"

And if he gives more gib at you, call the local garda station - every retailer should have a policy on scum who threaten staff, I do and I have no fear in using it. It is a good idea to discuss it with the local garda station first and have parameters, but they will work with the store owner on a policy and help implement it.

Thankfully, we've only ever used it once and it frightened the living sh1te out of the agressor and he apologised profusely and has been told neve to enterthe store again. CCTV with sound capability is very good to have.

Our notice simply says that


"As an employer, we protect our staff against rude or threatening customers. Anyone who threatens our staff in any way whatsoever will be reported to the gardai and charged under Section 6 of the Criminal Justice Act 1994. CCTV evidence will be used in all court proceedings.
We no exceptions to this policy."
