Wondering should my total earnings on my final payslip for 2011 correspond to my gross pay on my P60 because my payslip shows €1000 less that my P60

I believe you are reading your P60 incorrectly. The gross pay figure on the bottom right is your true figure before pre tax deductions like pension contributions. If you look up to the the figure on the left hand side of the page in box A, the total pay figure should equal that on your payslip.

Section A STATES MY TOTAL PAY AS 43339. Section D STATES 43340. MY PAYSLIP STATES 42443.59. Thanks for the reply btw

Your 'year-to-date ' gross pay on your final payslip for 2011 and your P60 gross taxable pay should match .

If you were paying superannuations ( pension ) this would not be included on your P60 as it is non-taxable .

Your P60 is wrong if your gross pay is higher than your gross taxable pay for 2011 as per final payslip .

If your employer gave you a hand-written P60 , its possible to be human error .

Time to check with your payroll then as they should match.

Can I just ask ALLTHEDOYLES are you sure that the Gross Pay YTD figure on the final payslip is the same as the Gross Taxable Pay on the P60? I think the Gross Taxable Pay on P60 has pension contributions deducted? I can't wait for my P60 to come and I'm trying to figure out what is not included from my final payslip. Do I just deduct the pension contributions?

    jano1 ...You mis-understood my post --- .

Your P60 will show your Gross Pay less any pension contributions .

    Your final payslip will show:
    1. Gross Pay
    2. Non-tax deductions
    3. Gross Taxable Pay
In other words , final payslip gross taxable pay, and P60 should match .

However , in the case of the OP , Gross Pay on final payslip and P60 should match , because he has stated that he does not pay pension .

Have you logged into your PAYE Anytime account to see if your your Pay and Tax details are already on file? If not you can input them from your final payslip for 2011 to request a review which generates a P21 balancing statement.
Re your P60, some employers are very lax with adhering to the PAYE regulations. Your P60 should have issued by mid Feb. Have you asked your employer for a copy?

Thanks allthedoyles. On my final payslip the final figure is for Gross Pay to date not Gross Taxable so I have to await my P60 as it will not match the gross taxable on the payslip. I have deductions for pension, pension levy, AVCs and salary protection etc and my final payslip doesn't show the ytd figures for all items :(
