Are you a liar?

I have had a few friends over the years that were compulsive liars, not in a malicious way, but they would lie about the most unimportant things. And then I've had friends that would cause a lot of trouble by telling lies for the sake of it.
The extent of my lying would be to make up an excuse to get out of doing stuff with friends because they would just nag me or be upset if I said I wasn't arsed.
Got me thinking anyway, how many of you lie frequently and have you ever told a serious porky?
    Be honest now.

I said my name was Kevin, and Jesus asked me to fill in for Him. He had an audience with Pontius Pilate but he had his pottery class to attend to so I went instead of Him. Turns out he's a carpenter. Bastard!

I have a friend who lies about everything.
Here is just a taster of what I listen to everyday.

"I went out with €10 and came back with €30" - Yeah that's only believable if it happened once, not every weekend. And it doesn't count if you went to the ATM during the night you muppet.

"I didn't shift him" - Yes, yes you did. I saw you!

"I have no money to go out with ye tonight" - But miraculously finds money to go out the following 3 nights in a row.

"I never handed in an assignment worth 20% of my entire module,I've lost 10% for attendance and I can't do it, it's so tough." - Then goes and gets on class in exams.. Why would you lie about this? I just don't get it

I'm just baffled by it. People are ever so strange.

    Not at all.
If people want to be creative and amusing then I'm all for it.
If people want to start a pedantic discussion about nothing, then I'll pass.

My brother is such an infantile liar.

He derives such gleeful pleasure from lying, or more accurately, he appears to when he is caught. It's always something fairly trivial as well. I fear it is some sort of childhood coping mechanism, and he derives pleasure from some sort of gratification he gets from not just tricking others, but getting away with it, and expunging some obstruction to his will; that he may have concluded early on that the will of others was not something he wished to follow. Wish may be the operative word there.

Most of my friends see me as the most honest person they know because I won't bullsh1t people. It's rare that I will tell a lie and when I do it's to serve a greater good.

I don't think you meant to post in After Hours. I think you're taking your OP a little too seriously. Lighten up.

You just quoted me in a post where I said I was all for it being funny and creative
Why are you trying to argue?
Perhaps you might try lightening up instead and contributing something to the thread?
    Good lad.

Life is full of people competing in some made up competition

But what often happens when people believe something it comes true

    I know the type

"You paid 300 for that i picked that up for 2 shillings at a flea market"
    Did ya yeah? good man

It makes them feel superior and in there mind they think you feel inferior

Its no harm , i knew so many people like that , you just let them live in their fantasy world , very little is going to burst their bubble

What im more concerned is why we just cant give up our games , peace and love and that airy fairy crap i guess

Not trying to argue. You just seemed so annoyed that people in After Hours wouldn't take you post seriously. I was surprised.

No I'm aware of what goes on in After Hours that's why I posted the thread here, but pretty much eveyone who posted was repeating the same sentence so I was trying to steer it in a different direction.
The post you qouted me in above was aimed at later12 trying to have a pedantic discussion about whether I was taking the thread too seriously.
Sorry for the misunderstanding friend :)

Everybody lies to everybody, you probably lie to yourself, and the next guy
You and I and everyone else was born in a house of lies.

Also, Luth is not a word, there is no in-betweens, if you say there is, you are a liar denier.

Yes I tell lies everyday. It wouldnt be good for my health to tell the truth all the time. A world where everyone tells the truth all the time would not be pretty.
