YES. My two kids were premature, one of whom spent four months in the neonatal intensive care unit in Galway.

Last year I helped organise a Fashion Show which raised €18,000 via www.irishprematurebabies.com charity.

There is a local organisation called "Galway Special Babies". You will find them on Facebook. They also held a Table Quiz, a book launch, sold charity Christmas cards etc etc

What sort of event do you propose to hold? Fair play to you for honouring the memory of your baby in this manner.

I was thinking of doing a auction type thing .not to sure yet I was thinking even if some of the money raised could be used as a fund to help parents who have to get accommodation as some of babies are in there for a couple of months.at the moment I'm just trying to get a idea of what could be done .

My daughter was premature also, i know i'd definitely attend the event no matter what you'd end up doing!
As Paddyfield said, contact www.irishprematurebabies.com they have a fundraising section on their website.
Keep us updated with your progress :)

Great idea. Have had family in a similar situation. My own suggestion, from fundraising for various things before, is to find out if there is something specific you can fund raise for. i.e. specialist equipment, parent/family fund or whatever. It makes the fundraising more worthwhile and tangible to both you and to other people who support it.

Definitely let us know if you are doing something and whatever I can do to lend a hand, no problem.
