Are there any handball alleys in Dublin City Centre? Indoor or outdoor.

    Thanks.

I had a look around the hill end and couldn't find the alley. Any directions coming from the direction of Quinns? Thanks.

Resurrecting an old thread but it's the most recent I could find.
Can anyone advise of the procedure in trying to get a court in Dublin for a game of handball? Not a member of any club etc so just looking for use of the court for a few games with a mate.

In terms of 40X20 UCD has a public court. Pretty expensive though if you are not in the college. €6.50 pp for 45 minutes. UCD also has 1 wall courts.

Clubs are crying out for members though if you were interested. Na Fianna and Brian Borus are two clubs which play out of Croke Park which has 40X20, 60X30 and 1 wall. I doubt they are too expensive to join.

It's a sad indictment of most GAA clubs in Dublin that most of them have a bar in the clubhouse but don't have a handball alley for members to use

Thanks for the response, I've used the UCD court before a few years ago last time I played but the cost is extortionate especially since when playing we'd generally go for a double session to make it worth our while.

Regarding the courts in Croke Park, can anyone book a slot(s) to play or do you have to be a member of one of the two above clubs? Handball is such a great sport working on all aspects of fitness and coordination but the GAA certainly don't make it easy on players to get involved with the lack of facilities and general advertisement. I think I've only seen handball on the TV twice which is a shame as it's a great game to watch also and quite unique.

There has been two 6 part series on tg4 in the past two years. Coverage of the recent World Championships is available on here. Just search through the sports section its on the third dot in. Not sure what the protocol with Croker is. Pop in and ask maybe in the evening sometime when the bar is open.
