Any advice? On a UK disposable sim for iphone for 3g data tethering for a few days

Im sick of getting charged through the nose for my Irish phone whenever I go to the UK.

So now I want to just get a sim when im over there and pop it in my iphone and tether it to the ipad.

Ive been looking at the uk pay as you go deals on the web and they all seem to be 30 month rolling contracts, or indecipherable offers.

Id need maybe a gig for a weekend or week every now and then.

BAsically I just want to call into a phone shop, pick up a sim with a gig of data on it for a month and go. Without signing up or giving credit cards etc.

Does anyone one know the cheapest way to go for this?

And while we're at it, can you do anything like that in France too.

    Thanks

Just get a 3Ireland 3Pay sim which works fine without extra charges in the UK or change your service to 3 altogether.

    France is a different issue.

    thanks.
Just looked at their website. there are extra charges for payg. and im not paying for a a three contract in ireland ever again. it was nothing but trouble when i was with them a couple of years ago. couldnt get a signal in most places i needed it.

actually, looked again and it looks like you can do it on prepay. but you have to wait 3 months? why are mobile phone websites so confusing.
