    These guys were going to pass off $6 trillion in fake US Bonds, half of the US public debt. Not sure how they thought they could get away with it.

    Great way for the US to cancel its debts - sell bonds, wait a few decades, seize them, declare them fakes with no independent examination, billions "saved". Great scam.

    No regular people uses bonds in real life.

    Banks and pension funds if they bought enough of them, they go broke a lot of people lose their saving or pensions.

    I think it was more a warning to them that this fraud may exist.
