I want to put my HTPC behind the couch. I already have a Harmony One which I use to control the HTPC, TV etc. Can anyone recommend an IR extender which will allow me to control my HTPC even if the IR receiver is behind the couch.

    Thanks.

The Microsoft USB receiver is fine for the job. It's about 12feet so put it where you like.
It's also quite sensitive so it might pick up the signal even if it's hidden away.
We used to have ours under the couch and it picked up button presses

Im not too sure subway means that one... but i do have that particular remote and receiver Silvine and it is very good as it has mouse control on it and the remote works straight out of the box too.

The usb receiver with that one is only about 3 mtr long, but as i can confirm and subway has said about his own, you can put it anywhere in the room.

I have mine sitting on top of the pc behind the couch and its never missed a remote button press yet... i can even point the remote away from that side of the room and point it anywhere and it responds perfectly.

One tip for you if you are going to buy that... the seller is on ebay (gigacity) and i ordered one from them (offered £10 on ebay make-an-offer and they accepted) so it cost around €14.50 delivered.

EDIT: and this usb receiver works very well with the Harmony remotes too i can confirm.

I wasn't thinking of that specific one, but basically any windows media centre remote receiver will do what you need.
Is your current receiver built into the case?

No. I use the one linked above but the cable isn't long enough.

Should consider to get a usb extension cable then, it will be much more reliable than any ir extension
