    Hi All,
I've a quick question. I have a parkingtag for parking in Dublin City Centre. How do the lads from DSPS check these? I assume they have a barcode scanner. I accidentally paid for red zone, but been parking in Yellow zone. I only noticed after I paid for parking. When I noticed my error, I realised I'd done the same yesterday. Will I be clamped? surely they would have checked my car and seen I was in the wrong zone.

    Any info would be great.

    Thanks

They have handheld scanners which do an online check when they read the barcode. There's no halfway house with the zones, if you've underpaid (e.g. paid for red but park in yellow), it's as if you haven't paid at all so they could clamp you.

Depending on the individual who is doing the checking, they may tolerate you having paid for one zone below the zone you're parked in but they would be within their rights to clamp you. In relation to your mistake, you may have been lucky in that they didn't visit the street where you were parked or they let you off because you were only one zone off, red being the second most expensive zone after yellow.

Overpaying of course is tolerated so if you pay for yellow you can park anywhere.

Go talk to Dublin city council if you want to sell barcode reading s/w, this is a user forum, not a fooking trade show.

Please don't quote spam, as it merely perpetuates it. :)
