    lads

been looking at the fta channel lists for these. it seems that you can get most if not all uk fta stuff on hotbird. ie bbc, itv, channel 4, more 4, e4 channel 5, film etc etc

so why bother with astra 28.2 at all? or am i missing something?

Are you sure you are not confusing this with Eurobird.

You'll be missing all your English speaking channels for a start, you might want to brush up on your Arabic,Italian and German to get the best of fta on 13e.

Eurobird & Astra 2 are pretty much in the same place in orbit so you pick up some UK tv from one and some from the other.A blind scan on a fta receiver will pick up the channels from both.

No competition. One is for UK & Ireland and the other for Italy, Arabic, Central Europe etc.

    13E channels (Hotbird 6, 8, 9)

    28E channels: (Astra 1N, 2A, 2B, 2D and Eurobird 1)

I think the OP is a little confused.

There is FTA English programming on Hotbird but it is pretty much news channels and nothing else. BBC (not BBC World), ITV, C4 etc. etc. are not on Hotbird
