Is she shy or uninterested? Can't tell.

Hi, I probably know the answer to my own question but just going to ask anyway what people think.

I met a girl through an online dating site. She seemed really nice and we've met up twice. The first meetup in that situation I always think of as a meetup rather than a date. We met last Friday. She seemed a little shy so I wasn't sure if I should take it as being shy or uninterested but overall it went fairly well.

So she got back in touch this week and we went to a gig tonight. Again she was really nice but seems shy. I tried to be a little more flirty and dance a little, I tried touching her arm and putting my arm around her to see how she'd respond. She wasn't pulling away and seemed ok with it but wasn't responding a lot. If a girl put her arm around me when I put mine around her I'd think ok, but she didn't.

I am just a bit confused. I dropped her home and didn't go in for a kiss, we just hugged and I let her go. She text me a few minutes after to say thanks and how she had a good night.

I just don't know what to think. If she responded a little more to touching her or putting my arm around her I'd usually just go for a kiss at the end as see if she was ok with that but I didn't.

I hate being like this but I find it difficult to tell if she is shy or not totally interested. I'm thinking of just leaving it be and if she gets in touch again for a 3rd date then she is probably interested. I feel if I got in touch she'd be open to meeting again but feel if I leave it to see if she makes contact then it might confirm if she's interested or not.

I don't know really. How do I tell if she's just shy or if she's not interested. I'm thinking that texting me and meeting up says she is but she holds back a little when we've met.

    I'm probably over analyzing.

    This.
Why would anyone continue to do the above if they were not interest?
She's probably wondering what's taking you so long to make the move. ;)

I just don't know what to think.
Then stop thinking so to speak. Just do(yoda voice:)). Over analysis will likely bite you in the bum. Go with the flow. Keep meeting and dare I say it make a move? That'll tell you yay or nay pretty quickly.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

    Hi folks,
Thanks for the replies. I think you are right. If she wasn't interested she wouldn't have text or met up again. I usually don't mind taking the lead if I'm at least a little sure the girl is interested but as I said, I guess she's a little shy and not wanting to take the lead herself and I didn't want to mis-read anything.

    Thanks!

I'd say she is shy, so make a move and then you will know, no harm done.

    Hey all,
Sorry to dig up the thread but just wanted to mention how it's gone.

I've seen her 3 times now. Drinks, a gig, then a movie and drinks after. She's still a little shy but she still chats away and I thought we had a really good time talking after the movie this week. She text the next day with a joke about what we had talked about. Since she's not really making any moves I just went for it and kissed her before saying goodbye. It was just a peck on the lips, not a makeout session or anything.

So again, there's all good signs. And since I think I stated my intentions by kissing her this time and then she text me the next day I thought it was good.

Having said that... She'll often not text back for a very long time. Thats the part that confuses me. I know I dont always text back in 2 minutes either its just that other girls I've dated start to text or be in contact a little more often. If someone is not really replying or if they don't respond for hours or until the next day I start to think they are a bit lukewarm.

Anyway, I asked her out again for this week and she said she'd love but signed off with "enjoy the weekend, talk later" so I'll just leave it until Mon or Tues I think and make some definite plans.

Not sure really. To be honest it's still new so we don't need to be texting daily or meeting constantly or anything. It's just that she's a little less forward than other girls I've dated in the past so it wrecks my head a little wondering if something means she's into me or not. All in all, I kissed her, she wants to see me again... don't over-think it... thats probably all there is to it.

Why didn't you suggest meeting up for the weekend? If I was dating someone I would think they weren't pushed if the left a whole weekend without seeing me?

It was just because we had met on Wednesday so it wasn't so long since we saw each other and I knew she had plans over the weekend so didn't push it.

It's looking good, try asking her for a weekend date next week and see what happens. I think myself that weekends are more important than weekdays so if she accepts a weekend date then you are in business.

When you meet her the next night, give her a peck on both cheeks and when you are walking to the pub put your arm around her waist. If you are sitting next to her, pull her in close to you and hold her hand. When you are talking to her and she is looking deep into your eyes then all you have to do then is just lean in and touch your lips off her lips. After that it should be a piece of cake.
Of course if she wallops you in the mouth say goodnight and be on your way! Best of luck!:)
