I have a dell inspirion 1564 laptop running windows 7 and only realised at the weekend that it had never downloaded the windows 7 service pack 1 through windows update. I discovered that the intel graphics driver version installed by dell was blocking the update so i had to remove that and update it from the intel download site. I still had lots of problems installing the update and had to delete files from the windows folder before eventually getting the update to install. So If you are using a dell laptop running windows 7 then you might want to check what version you are running.
