not getting any texts, they're literally in the notification area where new email would go etc.

Advertsing "win an ipad - cost 2x2.50 plus 3 per week etc"

I've texted "stop" twice to the number and they're still coming.

They must have installed some sort of app on my phone.

I'm not 100% but I think they've been taking credit.

Who do I get rid of these cúnts?

When you text "Stop", it's probably costing you.

If it's in your notification area, then your best bet is to find the app that's putting it there. What did you install recently?

I tried looking but nothing suspicious looking.

    Any "hidden" apps possible?

    These are airpush notifications

    https://market.android.com/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector&hl=en

use that to find the app that's sending them.

You can get airpush blocker to see what apps cause them.

Airpush blocker will let you keep the app but block the spam notifications, havent used that but the detector worked great.

    Thanks guys.

    Found the offending article.

It was a Temple Run game I downloaded.
I checked the market and Temple Run isn't even out on Droid yet.

No, they're just adverts but instead of appearing in the app itself, they appear in the notification bar when you may not be even using the app

I got a notification to download the Temple Run game.

I did and when I tried to play it it said I needed to log into ym facebook account and share it first.

I didn't bother doing this and just forgot about it until all these gay win an ipad stuff started appearing in my notification area.

Thanks to airpush I removed the fake game but I still don't know where the notification to download it in the first place came from.

Thats just the joys of Android and an open marketplace. You will just have to read reviews a bit more carefully and don't install lots of crappy malware apps.
